G+_Jose C Martinez
1. No you don't need antivirus on your Android. 2. You get malware by installing pirated software off of illegitimate sites or using shady app stores....or just being plain stupid about what you click on. G+_Barry Smith
my question is how much malware has been found and reported by such software?

G+_Joel Pomales
So the entire list can be summarized as "Don't be dumb and don't do dumb things if you don't know what you're doing". Got it.

G+_L I
There was a dude from The Register on TN2 last week who said it was imperative to install a virus checker on his android phone and I just don't understand. Maybe if you are a bleeding edge rooter and/or if you use alternative/local app stores. But if you use the Google Play store and don't allow third party sources then the chances are close to 0 that anything happens to you. And you run KitKat. I'm not convinced those anti virus apps would catch anymore than Google Play Services' Verify and Install service.
G+_Jervis Dabreo
Does he work for one of the companies that make antivirus software Lionel D?? I use alternative app stores from time to time, is a heavy madder etc. and have had no problem with malware. I do not run any antivirus software on any of my tablets or phone. G+_L I
Jervis Dabreo I think he might just be the typical Apple-biased tech journo who sees Windows and Android as the wild west with bandits roaming the plains ready to snatch your horse and women and rob the train or something.
