G+_ian johnston
though i don't understand the technical reasons behind it, i know that for a while now Android has been lagging behind iOS quite literally when it comes to real time music generation in apps, something due to the way audio is handled in Android vs iOS.. Jason Howell has spoken of this before on the show.. anyone know if any of the announced changes in L will bring Android's performance up in this category? G+_Joseph Cappellino
Generally speaking, it's not really a software thing. Because Apple controls the whole stack, it's easier to get low latency audio. Whereas, Android manufacturers only control the hardware, and Google controls the software. After a little research a while back, the Galaxy Nexus has the lowest latency of any device. This may have changed in recent times.

G+_Roy Delgado
Android Central pulled a list of what's new in the L release from a slide in the keynote. The list on this link includes " Low latency audio recording audio patch panel". Maybe this release will fix that issue. http://www.androidcentral.com/whats-next-version-android-aka-l-all-stuff
G+_ian johnston
Roy Delgado I saw that, that was what triggered this question initially. I sure hope so. The thing that really would be nice is to be able to press the screen and immediately hear a response or a note or a sound as in on iOS. Fingers crossed. G+_Joseph Cappellino
Santos Cardona I don't think so, but I'll look into it.
G+_Santos Cardona
Joseph Cappellino I'm pretty sure as that was the appeal of the device for me.
