I have a great example of that happening to a device that isn't even tied to any carrier. I got this update before they pulled it and fortunately for me the only issues I have is the "optimizing apps" when turning on the device at times and OTG devices only being recognized if they were plugged into the device when you first turn it on (I don't use OTG devices with this but this is annoying for others that do). They list several other issues (even speakers blowing out) and they have yet updated the SHIELD Tablet again since it was pulled.
