G+_grumpyjock
Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my phone (carrier subsidized) in about a month. I've been looking at either the M8, G3, or X. Mainly, need something to compete with my wifes iPhone camera. I don't take pictures of our kid on my S3 either because the pictures just can't compare or the camera consistently times out before it even starts. Also, should I upgrade now or is there something else coming out in a few months worth holding out for? ?
G+_Aditya Saky
Samsung generally puts good cameras on its devices. Note 4 maybe? M8 and X don't have that great cameras.
G+_Wanda Horton
Nexus 6 should be coming out this month if you want to wait.

G+_Eitan Hoffman
Aditya Saky I'm looking for a "normal" size phone. I have no need for a Note.
G+_Eitan Hoffman
Richard Hargett, Verizon
G+_Mark Stronge
Sony Z3 is better camera
G+_Edward Boicourt
You want a good camera? G3 it's the only one your looking at that has a really good one.
G+_Richard Hargett
There are leaks of a new Droid turbo about to be released on Verizon. It is rumored to have a 20 megapixel camera. This could be a possibility but historically Motorola cameras are mediocre. If this one doesn't pan out I would go with the LG G3.
G+_James Heuer
I'd avoid an LG phone like the plague personally. Unless your willing to root it. Great hardware on them but LG ruins them imo.
G+_Edward Boicourt
James Heuer not as bad as Samsung. Besides he isn't looking for the best software experience otherwise he would have to stick to to moto or a nexus.
G+_James Heuer
Edward Boicourt True but I wouldn't recommend an LG to anyone based on various experiences with the G2.
G+_Eitan Hoffman
Mark Stronge I am very interested in Sony phones, but dont think Verizon carries any of them
G+_Eitan Hoffman
Edward Boicourt I am not looking for a device where the only plus is that it has a good camera. I would like something with good software and hardware aspects as well.
G+_Eitan Hoffman
Richard Hargett Does 20 MP mean that the camera is necessarily going to be any better?
G+_Edward Boicourt
Eitan Hoffman then get the moto
G+_James Heuer
The 2nd Gen moto X has a 13MP camera just like anything else that is newer (save the note 4 at 16). Plus I have a 1st gen X and it's been the best, most useful phone I've owned to date. The new one also takes multiple photos and let's you pick the best one. So I'd personally suggest looking into the X. Unless it has some glaring software related camera issues, I would imagine it would take photos just as well as any iPhone. ? G+_Richard Hargett
We will have to wait and see. Where Motorola cameras traditionally fall apart is in low light, but that is the case with most smartphone cameras. There are a hand full of exceptions. Anyway I'm hopeful that with the new sensor Motorola will apply some new and improved photo processing software with can help in the weaker areas.
