G+_Alfredo Suarez
Anyone else find it weird that the Google Play store doesn't have a lossless file format, I'm fine that streaming is lossy but I want to buy some new albums and don't want would prefer to stay in the digital realm rather than going a physical store. Apple has ALAC which is literally just FLAC (a free lossless file format), with an Apple encoded header, I know at one point Google was pushing for the Ogg Vorbis format as a web standard but didn't go through with it. As a Google Play Music subscriber I would buy my favourite songs if they were lossless for my home hifi which unfortunately highlights the lossy parts of the files. The obvious counterpoint is that it costs more to keep a lossless format, it confuses people who do not know the difference (the majority). Still a bit annoyed that I have to resort to CDs and DVDs to rip full quality music for offline music listening.
G+_L I
Doesn't Tidal offer lossless tracks? Alternatively if you have FLAC files locally you could use Poweramp to play them.
G+_Pradyumn Vij
Lionel D? oh I fully understand I can use other apps to run flac files (I use foobar2000) and VLC. It would be great to play these in Google Play Music seamlessly though. Tidal send to only have streaming and not own the songs. From what I can gather.
