G+_David
A bit disappointed with battery life on my new Nexus 5X. It looks like the OS itself is just draining battery all day, even though I've barely used the phone (and charged it a little around 6PM). I was really hoping Marshmallow would fix this. G+_Roy S.
That sucks dude.. I was having trouble with my note 5 then I did a factory reset and it got better
G+_L I
I hate it when the phone is ultra slim but the battery life is terrible.
G+_William Cheng
How much screen on time was there? And how is your cell signal in general? It doesn't look great in that screenshot.
G+_David
William Cheng? SOT was about 2 hours. My cell signal is pretty decent in general. I tapped on "Android System" to see the details, and by far the biggest item was "Keep awake." Not sure what that's doing exactly.
G+_William Cheng
If you tap on the battery graph to get the full screen graph, does the mobile network signal bar have lots of red?
G+_Scott Ivlow
David Nilsen did you root your phone? LG has good battery life. I would check to see what apps your are syncing. Do have your phone setting to a shorter time period to lock out. If your keeping your phone on when not in use it drains the battery. You should goggle keep awake. I'm still using KitKat I never root my phones I never had fast draining phone unless I kept it on without having the screen to timeout soon. G+_Mark Messiha
David Nilsen I'm no pro but that sounds to me like something that could be fixed by software

G+_Christopher Seieroe
Strange, my 5X doesn't have this problem. Battery life is great in my experience. ?Edit: I had a similar problem on my Nexus 5, turned out syncing email from Hotmail was the problem. G+_David
William Cheng? I will check that again today. But even if I have somewhat poor signal, that never drained my iPhone 6 battery.
G+_David
Scott Ivlow? No I didn't root. I haven't messed with any settings, so it should just be standard Marshmallow (which was supposed to use Doze to keep battery up). The "Phone Idle" item on my battery list said 13 hours, so it was definitely idle (I assume using Doze?) for the majority of the day.
G+_David
Chris Holt? Well, it's a 5X, so...
G+_David
Christopher Seieroe? Thanks! How did you figure out that syncing with Hotmail was the problem? How did you fix it? I'm just using Google's Inbox.
G+_Christopher Seieroe
I got lucky. I did a Google search and someone mentioned they had Android OS taking up a lot of battery and disabling email syncing worked for them. I tried it and it helped me. In Settings, you can go to Accounts and enable/disable syncing of email, contacts, and/or calendar. I think that's where I went.
G+_David
Christopher Seieroe? Thanks! I turned off auto sync for Twitter and Evernote, as well as some Google stuff I don't use like books, newstand, and sheets. We'll see if that helps at all. G+_David
Jeremy Petzold? Would that include all Android OS and System functions?
G+_James Zebedee
Jeremy Petzold but only if the phone is stationary. If you keep it in your pocket it will stay awake.
G+_David
Simon Robinson?? I did not know that. Thanks! That's pretty disappointing, actually. If the phone is in your pocket for 3 hours Android should know to put it in Doze. Who keeps their phone out, completely stationary, on a desk for long periods of time? G+_David
William Cheng? I checked my cell signal bar today, and it had some red, some orange, and some green. But that didn't seem to affect my battery in any noticeable way. The drain was steady all day, regardless of the cell signal.
G+_David
As a general update, I intentionally used my phone pretty heavily today (lots of Amazon browsing, texting, a little podcast streaming), and it did pretty well. Started at 9am with full charge, and it hit the 15% low battery mark around 9pm. So that's 12 hours of normal use, which is good I guess.
