Installed Lollipop OTA on my NVidia SHIELD tablet yesterday, before I've even received it on my Nexus 7 (2012 original recipe).  I've only used it briefly, but the UI seems zippier and more crisp.  Compared to KitKat, the tablet seems almost too responsive.  Other initial impressions:

- Material Design is really nice, but it makes the pre-MD apps really look different.

- Some of the MD effects seem gratuitously flashy

- I prefer HOLO style dark color scheme to the MD white one, especially at night.

- Some apps break (Amazon App Store) or are incompatible (MX Player Pro).

- Others have weird UI issues, like the new colors making button text unreadable (white on white buttons in ES File Explorer)

- Not sure why Google had to copy Apple's slider toggle instead of check boxes for settings.  They don't seem any more clear to me. If they wanted to copy something from iOS, I would prefer badges over icons.

Minor nits, all of them.  Overall, I like the fresh look and the lively responsiveness.  I hope my less powerful Nexus 7 fares as well.
