G+_Jason Perry
Where did the R programming language come from and is it just a fad? Its ranked number 12 this year and was 38 last.
G+_Louis Maresca
Fantastic question Jason. I wonder the same thing about the "fad" idea. R is a popular open-source programming environment for statistics and data mining. With machine learning on the rise, no wonder it has moved up in the ranks. Azure ML exclusively supports the R language and does add a bit of elegance to an otherwise difficult and overly complex problem.?

G+_Walter Houser
Listen to FLOSS Weekly interview of Hadley Wickham on RStudio's free and open tools for the R community. These include the RStudio development environment as well as the shiny, ggvis, and dplyr packages. http://twit.tv/show/floss-weekly/
