G+_Phil Chung
Anyone finding that Google Maps is not saying the street names anymore when navigating? When I uninstall updates I get the street names back again, but with the latest version I have (9.3.0), installed on an HTC One M8 (Android 4.4.4) does not say the street names - just turn left, turn right etc. It also totally ignores the voice setting I've selected in the settings - I always get US female voice. I've resorted to using Here Maps for the time being.
G+_Wesley Mosier
When I looked this up last year, I believe the solution was to clear the cache of the app.
G+_Phil Chung
Did that. Even uninstalled updates and reinstalled. Still get no street names and just the US voice telling me left, right etc. It was working a few weeks ago before it got updated.
G+_Pradyumn Vij
The HTC One M7 has the newest version of maps and it is still using my preferred setup plus says the street names. Maps does remind me to turn left or right 6s before the actual turn without the street name but the prior reminders at 1km and 3km are with the street names. Maybe your maps setup is is asking for turn information too close to the turn
G+_Phil Chung
I have finally got the street names working again, but not how it was before. I cleared the data for the Google Text to Speech app and had to set my system language to English (United States) instead of English (Australia). However the street names are read with US accent even after I have selected English (United Kingdom) in the Text to Speech settings (and downloaded the language data file). G+_Pradyumn Vij
Phil Chung try deleting the US voices under the Settings for Google Text to Speech Engine, there should be a section "Install voice data". Delete the ones not in use.
G+_Phil Chung
Pradyumn Vij? I tried that - no delete for US female voice. It doesn't matter which voice I've selected, it uses US female voice. At least I have street names now. I'll revisit the voice another time, when Maps gets updated or when I get Lollipop update.?
