G+_Ilkka Viinikanoja
Does anyone know of an SFTP client where the Share intent actually works for uploading photos I've picked in the Photos app? I've tried AndFTP, ES File Explorer, Turbo FTP, and Admin Hands, and all of them fail to upload anything if I access them via the Share sheet. I've also tried ServerAuditor, but it doesn't seem to have a share intent at all. This scenario (pick a photo and upload it via SFTP to a server) works flawlessly on iOS + Transmit combo, so I'm quite confident this should work on Android too. But so far I haven't been been able to find an app where the share sheet works properly for this.
G+_L I
That's weird, I've been doing this with AndFTP since Gingerbread days.

G+_Ilkka Viinikanoja
For me AndFTP works if I pick the file from the app itself, but if I use the share sheet from Photos, I just get a "Transfer failed" error. This occurs on stock Nexus 5 & 6.0.1.

G+_L I
My main phone is on 4.4 and my old phone is on M (go figure) and it worked for me on both - sharing from QuickPic and Photos. Did you make sure you have a default remote directory for the server entry you're using?

G+_Ilkka Viinikanoja
It was indeed the default remote directory that was causing the issue! With Transmit on iOS I was used to being able to pick my upload target after sharing the pic, but seems like I'll just have to pick the most typical directory as the default target. Thanks for the tip, I had overlooked that part with my setup.

G+_L I
Yeah - you'd think they would put up an error message or something. Maybe they did in an earlier version and that's why I knew.

G+_Ilkka Viinikanoja
Well there is an error message, but it should be much less vague to be actually useful :) Even if they can't detect the actual reason for failure, it wouldn't hurt to tip about the most common errors and have the user check those.
