G+_Wesley Mosier
Verizon Wireless is annoying. I can finally install and run Google Wallet on both of my NFC enabled smartphones, but you are not allowing me to use its best feature, Tap and Pay? Grrrrrr! G+_Cole Brodine
Nothing new. They've been crippling devices since long before smartphones existed. I remember when they used to disable the data transfer capability on their flip phones.
G+_Wesley Mosier
Tommy Pratt I wouldn't say they are pure evil, but they definitely are not working for the interests of the consumer.
G+_Jacob “Jake” Bowen
Here is my argument for why we need root. I was able to update the app (I was using a sideloaded apk prior) and can still use tap to pay.Though the biggest problem is many merchants don't have their NFC functional at the register. G+_Erik Huntoon
I used to be able to use tap to pay via Google Wallet on my Vzw Samsung Galaxy Nexus (rooted of course). Don't have anywhere to use it now so don't know if it still works or not. Very annoying that one has to jump through that many hoops to get what could be a great service to work. G+_Shawn Co
Totally agree. Our providers should be providing what we want. Period.
G+_Wesley Mosier
Jacob Bowen Erik Huntoon so theoretically, simply rooting my phone might give me access to Tap and Pay? ?
G+_Wesley Mosier
Shawn Co totally agree, let consumers choice be your business. Jeff Jarvis I'm sure agrees!
G+_Jacob “Jake” Bowen
You have to root and then download and sideload an apk. (app file) that allows you to bypass whatever Verizon did to disable it. I usually find the apk on xda forums or droid-life.com; if you have a galaxy nexus it is to easy to do.
