G+_Joseph Hurtsellers
I've been using Hangouts for texting for quite some time. I like how I can text right from my Chromebooks... but using it with my Google Voice number seems to be getting harder and harder. It constantly bogs down on my phone. Crashes. ---- Does anyone think factory resetting my phone would help or is hangouts just bad software? Anyone have a better solution that works seamlessly from computer to phone? G+_Joseph Cappellino
Hangouts is pretty heavyweight, so it does bog down. You can attempt to clear data on Hangouts itself (no need to do it at the phone level). That being said, besides Hangouts, the only other way to send SMS on both Chromebooks and mobile devices is to use the Google Voice app directly. Hope this helps. G+_Joseph Hurtsellers
thanks Joseph Cappellino Can you tell me how to do that? I went to Hangouts and settings but don't see anything.
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Look for "Receive SMS and voicemail in Hangouts" setting on both the Hangouts Chrome app and Android app (Under SMS). From there, you have to use the Google Voice app/site for everything. I forgot to mention one big caveat, Google Voice site/app does not support MMS. :-/
