G+_DJ NightKat
Gina Trapani mentioned on AAA that the HtC One Google edition was gimped, that many hardware features wouldn't work. What's the source? It seems most of the thing I've read about what won't work are based on CM10... And considering that the Stock ROM on the Google Play version will be built in partnership with HTC makes me think that they will have access to all the hardware extras. G+_Chris
My understanding of the problem is that those hardware extras require proprietary software/drivers that are closed source (not in the AOSP) and as such wouldn't be included in the AOSP Google Edition of the ROM. The ROM would have to go through HTC to have those proprietary pieces added/tested/released. Perhaps this will be the difference between a Nexus phone and a Google Experience phone. G+_DJ NightKat
I don't think a Nexus ROM is AOSP though. Its still got Google's apps and customizations..
G+_Chris
This is true. It just comes down to whether HTC is willing to package up their proprietary software and either load it as APKs or otherwise provide it to Google to distribution with future updates. G+_Robert Nazarian
It is supposed to be a Nexus experience phone. If HTC were to install those extras, updates would be much slower. It makes no sense for HTC or any other OEM to try to pick and choose extras. It's not the point of the program.
