Wanted to get some feedback; I'm looking to move from iOS and now theres going to be HTC One and S4 "Nexus", which would be the better buy? Also would you still get the camera features (HTC), beats audio (HTC), eye scrolling (S4) and other S4 features. Or are they only going to be apart of the current version? Any buying advice would be helpful

Arguments for a removable battery:

Options for extended batteries and maybe need to do a battery pull if your phone freezes up. I've seen people reporting they get 3days between charges with moderate use and 2 days with heavy use with the zerolemon extended battery for the note 2. I don't know if it's available for the s4 yet. 3days people not 6-8hrs! Seriously why would u not buy one? As for battery pulls, I haven't had to do one since I was on gingerbread. So Idk if this is even still an issue.

Arguments for external sd card:

Most phones nowadays support up to 64gig sd cards. That's a lot of storage. If your phone fries or gets broken, u can remove the card and put it in your new one. Also if u take lots of pics and videos or download music or videos, you're gonna need the external card when u don't have signal. Every few years your sd card is going to fail though. So backing up your files to a computer or the cloud is still advisable. If u intend to root your phone, the benefits of an external sd card are bigger.

Build quality? The HTC one is a ton better as far as build quality goes. I've seen videos pointing out the bezel and some internal weak spots on the s4. So seems like the HTC would be a better build for longer life. However HTC doesn't have nearly as good a reputation for timely updates. If staying up to date is important to u? Then the s4 is a better option. So when u say u like to keep phones for 3-4yrs, the HTC would last longer, but the s4 will stay current longer.

Which one will I chose? Neither. I am a note series fan. Love my note 2 for now. Looking forward to the note 3 release in September. I would not trade my note 2 for either version of either phones. Just my opinion.

I would actually hold off on either one of these phones until the actually relaesed and people have had some time to spend with them but barring that here is my opinion Matt Bulfair. Since you have been using the Nexus 7 that means you are very comfortable with stock android as it is on a Nexus device. So as has been mentioned, the HTC one looks and feels awesome with a fantastic screen. Its certainly a phone you wouldn't mind pulling out and beats audio will be included so you will get great sound with some slight caveats. With the S4 on the other hand you get a durable phone that has a removable battery with space for extra memory, contrary to what most people will have you believe it actually feels good to hold and is really light. Samsung devices are also filled to the brim with sensors and not many people know that the S3 had a pressure sensor in it that was so accurate it could tell what floor you were on http://tinyurl.com/9ck7xoh , so yeah if you want futuristic device Samsung has you covered (sadly there haven't been much development to take advantage of all the stuff they put in from 3rd party devs)

Finally I wrote a post a while back about the main gripes between Sense and touch wiz if you were thinking of going that way and needed to understand why people call Samsung enhancements gimmicks. https://plus.google.com/112032489367607291115/posts/jicVmsCnD4U, hey I have an S3 and I use many of them.

Sorry if this was too long a response,

Marlon Thompson My goal is July so I will wait on those reviews to see what they do or don't have and compare it, I'm not against skins with gimmicks if its an enhancement. I will read your post, I was already leaning on the S4 based on a article I read before. Thanks

Ok to me some of these comments are all over the place with their answers. The HTC One and S4 Will have Nexus's Versions. With this u will loose all the added features that these companies put into thier devices. Like Beats audio on the HTC will be gone. The software that makes the HTC One camera alot better will be gone. Only things u will have are the basic stuff google gives you in the nexus experience. Think of ur nexus 7 on a phone. Thats it for both versions. To me the added features that these companies add to the android experiece is worth it. One person may call it gimmicy  but another may cant live without it. I personally cant do without microsd for my books and music and be able to change my battery. As much as the HTC One is nice, it has neither of those. Big thinig to remeber with either phone. Is it dont matter which u choose. You can Always change the laucher and get the Nexus experience. Or a custom Look u perfer that mixes the stuff. Thats what makes Android to much better. U can make it our own and Look like noone elses.

Wicky Wicklet Actually beats audio will be on the HTC one, HTC themselves confirmed that http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/news/2013/06/htc_one_google_edition_to_keep_beats_audio_and_camera_app/ there will of course as you pointed out be some compromises. Another thing is launchers can only do so much Sense and TouchWiz operate at the base level. So on the HTC with sense for example you can put Nova launcher on their but your settings page that does not display all the battery information remains the same. I also agree that for me many of the added features the companies have added improve the experience but the biggest plus with the Google experience phones is faster updates.

Fortunately for you, android has finally reached a level where the phones work fantastic on jelly bean. I don't think you would be disappointed with any android phone that has been released in the past year. None of them are real lemons. When android first came out it was hit or miss. This is a good time for the switch. I say just get a phone and try it. U couldn't be disappointed with most flagship models. We all have our preferences. We have all had our experiences. Not many of us have owned every phone or even taken the time to play with all of them.

Craigslist is my friend. When I buy a phone, I try for one that will hold value on Craigslist so I can resell it if I want. All phones mentioned so far will hold good resell value for almost a year.

I love the responses. I am getting good feedback. I am leaning on a s4 I do want the things an iPhone doesn't let me do like the battery and the sd card. Then when something better is out I will be on tmobile and just get that instead. I like nexus and it's true if I don't like something I can switch the launcher.

One other thing on the updates Matt Bulfair Samsung has been a bit better than HTC especially for me as I am outside of the US, I would advise you check Tmobile's history in rolling out the updates, I think they are one of the better ones in the US.I still suggest you go in and try both out, get a feel for them.

I may be the crazy one but I don't understand all the persistence of the non-AOSP hate. I mean, I had an older Moto phone and couldn't stand their skin. But we now have a G.Note 2 (stock) and a Nexus 7 in the house and to be completely honest I prefer the experience on the G.Note 2.
