G+_Piotr “Spaceman” Butkie
Does anyone know if i'll be able to receive sms messages through the new hangouts app? more importantly will it work through wifi connection alone? I ask because I have a bit of a cell network signal dead spot right where i live, so i can't rely on great service for sms messaging, if this will route my sms messages to hangouts as well then that the silver bullet messaging solution i'm looking for! G+_Joseph Cappellino
Not yet, but Google Voice is rumored to be integrated in the future.
G+_Matt Beacher
Google Voice has #contacts integration, and seeing sms become a hangout message, I'm good with that.

G+_Joseph Cappellino
Piotr Butkiewicz That's why I ported my number way back when. On a side note, you might be able to port your number without affecting your contract as you still need a T-Mobile number (else your cellphone is almost useless). Talk to customer service explaining that you want to port your number to Google Voice, but need a new number on the current line. Explain that you're not terminating your service with them, and want to continue serving out your contract. Verizon did this for me (although it was a bit of a hassle). They basically added a new line using a month-to-month contract. Google then started the porting process which took a couple of days. Once complete, I went back to Verizon which moved my old contract to the new line. Hope this helps.
