G+_Brandon Giesing / CosiC
SwiftKey 4.2 Keyboard Test with Physical Keyboard I have a Bluetooth keyboard and I thought I would test it with SwiftKey since it has some special features for physical keyboards. To get started, connect your Bluetooth keyboard to your device. This is pretty much self explainable so I don't need to cover it here. Next, open up the SwiftKey app and go to the Input Methods section. You will now see that the Physical Keyboard options are available that weren't before. In these options, their is a few things you can change or enable. Just like the normal keyboard has different options for Space bar Prediction mode, the physical keyboard has separate options for it. These include Complete the current word (Default), Always insert prediction, and Always insert a space. There are also three different tick options: Auto Captialize: Self-explanatory Smart punctuation spacing: Remove useless spaces between punctuation and words. Punctuation Completion: Complete the current word when entering in punctuation. So does this improve your typing? Well it depends on the person. I am a relatively fast typist even though I don't know how to Touch Type; however the predictions speed up when you don't know how to spell the word. Also even if you are a fast typist, You can change it to always space and still get the other extra functionality such as the Auto-Capitalization. So if you use a hardware keyboard for typing a lot, would I recommend that you purchase SwiftKey? Well, I would have to say yes. Not just are you getting a great keyboard for Touchscreen typing, but you are also getting a great keyboard for physical typing.
