G+_Arcee A
Can anyone recommend an antivirus for Android that comes with its own firewall for non-rooted tablets? #Android

G+_Fernando De Leon
Why an anti virus? Do you like downloading pirated apps from china or Nigeria app stores? Really???
G+_Arcee A
I'm writing an article on mobile security. I was wondering if some firewall came bundled with an antivirus, like the one I am currently using on my PC.
G+_Jason Fleisher
I believe avast! Antivirus does that.
G+_Arcee A
Thanks, Jason Fleisher. I saw that too and you have to be rooted for the feature to be available in avast! Antivirus. Anyway, the article has been published here: http://iuniq.com/mobile-security-2/how-to-secure-your-mobile-device-part-2/ I just think that if some firewall apps can block other apps from accessing the internet or wifi on stock Android, the major antivirus publishers should be able to do that as well. G+_Johan Appelgren
Arcee A No app without root privileges can block other apps from accessing the internet. Except for apps that disable all 3g access by corrupting the apn settings or blocks wifi by setting up a local proxy (I think that security vulnerability will be fixed if it hasn't been already). G+_Arcee A
Johan Appelgren Interesting! Would you say that this is what https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netspark.firewall or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.greyshirts.firewall does? Maybe it's the reason why it says that VPN is on when using these apps?
G+_Johan Appelgren
Arcee A Hadn't thought of doing what they do. They setup a local VPN so that the app can act as a proxy. No security issue there since you as a user must accept the VPN connection and there is a notification so you know what's happening. Neat. :) Wouldn't install the first one though, crazy permission requests there for a firewall app. :)
