Really Liked the Pi as webcam server....wanted to know if there could be a possibility to configure the Pi as a NAS with USB HDD's

I've done that with my Pi.  I actually configured it as a wireless hotspot with a Media Server on board.  I attached a USB hard drive to it with all my Kid's movies ripped onto the drive.

 

When we're driving on long trips, the kids use Android Tablets to connect to the wifi hotspot from the Pi and stream movies.

You absolutely can use the Pi as a NAS. Performance is so-so, but it works in a pinch.... hmmmmm... future project?
