I 'm asking this here as a last resort

Recommended Posts

I'm asking this here as a last resort. I've got a new Android device running 4.1.1 but it won't grab my Google Photo's. Everything else works flawlessly. I've quadruple checked my settings, force closed and cleared the app data several times, tried several other "gallary" apps; all with the same negative result. (Naturally my pics in G+ are all fine; but I wanted the official Gallery app to run.)

I've looked all over the web for a solution but can't find one.

I'm thinking of doing a complete data wipe and factory reset - but that's really going to be a pain.

Anyone have any ideas to help me because I'm at my wits end?

If I read this right, you want your phone gallery to see what you already have on Google?

Go into the stock gallery app, settings, view album, choose all.

Then yes, make sure your Google settings have you connected and make sure sync is on.

If you have a lot of pics, it might take a few min to sync them all.

Good luck.

Does this device get the Play Store & all the other pre-loaded Google apps (Gmail, Search, G+, etc)? I ask because it sounds like a specialty device, that may not be running Android as the framework, but not Google supported. Otherwise, must be a phone flaw. I've had 4 different Android phones & I never had to do anything more than make sure sync Picasa was checked in the Accounts & Sync settings, and some OEM's require you to change a setting in the gallery app. You've done all that.

Thanks a ton Wade Shields. The device supports and comes with the full Google Play store and all of my Google apps (Gmail, Search, ect.) automatically download when I start it up. (As a matter of fact it's sort of astonishing that you can get these kind of devices - and it totally kills any interest in Google TV for me.)

Interestingly enough though; I do NOT get an option to sync Picassa - it simply doesn't appear as an option. However; I do not get that option on either of my two other android devices - the Nexus 7, and Galaxy Nexus. The menus are IDENTICAL on all three devices.

Quite the mystery here.

One other clue on my situation is that when I select "sync now", I notice the little spinny arrow thing go down the list of items and pause and spin as it syncs them, but when it gets to "Google Photos" it just sort of skips it - touches it for a plit second - then moves on.

It's as if I have no photo's so there is nothing to sync.

Sounds like a Google problem to me, not a device problem, but what do I know. If you haven't done this already, I would dig through the web settings of G+ and Picasa and see if there is something blocking it. Sorry I couldn't help more. I've been spoiled to not have any of these Google Sync issues, but I've just been lucky.
