G+_P Costello
I'm finding I'm yearning for the longer in-depth Know How episodes. The switch to multiple projects sounded good, but it seems like we evolved to have product reviews, science news trivia, etc. That makes me feel we lost something fundamental to a Know How podcast. Can we turn down or off the distracting segments and get back the focus on projects and detail? Are we really that A.D.D. ??
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
I was wonderfully happy doing the longer, in-depth segments, but the vast majority of people who wrote-in asked us for shorter, "easier access" topics.
G+_P Costello
I guess I'm part of the silent majority :-)
G+_Dan Stephenson
I agree with you sir. I'd rather have one project for the entire length of the show each week. I think we could do more in-depth projects, or at least have more interesting discussion around the single project.
G+_P Costello
Maybe at least stick to projects and drop the product reviews and science news stuff.

G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
P Costello let me level with you... Look at the "classic" episodes of "Know How" (Episodes 1-60) and you'll see that they covered 1 topic per week and ran an average of 20 minutes. Now look at the "rebooted" episodes of "Know How" (After I joined the show) and you'll see that they cover 3 topics per week with an average length of 45 minutes per episode, 10-20 minutes per segment. -- In other words, you're getting the same length of segments, it just feels shorter because we're doing more of them. What Bryan Burnett and I are trying to create is more than just a "do this project" show. We're trying to build something akin to "The Screen Savers" with different types of segments including news, interesting tidbits, general DIY and advanced Maker topics. We'll be bringing more and more expert guests onto the show and hopefully building up our repertoire to the point that we can finally give you that "something for everyone" feel that I wanted out of the Maker show that I pitched to TWiT a year ago. (Which then became "Know How 2.0." It's different, but the numbers tell us that's what the audience wants.
