G+_Miranda Streeter
3d modeling? Ooh, that's a rather big one to tackle! Hypothetically, Father, let's say you decided to pick that. I'd do a heckuva lotta research on the subject, specifically from those in the industry. To learn most 3d software is not for the faint of heart! Personally, for a full 3d suite I'd recommend one of two. The first being Maya Student Edition. All you need is a student email. The only difference is it lasts a mere 36-months. That is, until you request to renew the license for another 36. :P The other would be Blender, a fantastic example of a FOSS project managed properly. It has improved dramatically these past few years, which took a lot by surprise. This has a much lower barrier to entry (along with a lower commitment rate, as they go hand in hand). It's as simple as downloading a zip or exe and perhaps clicking okay once or twice. Oh, and I forgot to mention, all three work on Linux, Windows, and OS X. :D Source: almost made this her career.
