G+_Josh Johnson
Any chance we could get a segment on how to block access to certain sites? Maybe at a device level and at the router level?
G+_David Peterson
Maybe expand that to explain DNS and google's option and OpenDNS, too. And then describe why DynDNS is useful.
G+_Dan Phillips
Almost every router available today has a feature that lets you enter in a list of sites you want to block. And as David mentioned, openDNS is simple and very easy to set up. http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions
G+_Josh Johnson
Lets say I just want to block porn sites in general? How would one go about that?
G+_Dan Phillips
openDNS is your best bet. They have a plan called "Family Shield" that is free and will block porn. The best part is that once you setup openDNS on your router (takes 20 seconds) ANY device on your network is projected so no one can sneak a peak on a device your unaware of. G+_Josh Johnson
That rocks...Thanks. I've been terrified of my 10 year old brother stumbling onto some stuff with his Kindle Fire that he shouldn't.
G+_David Peterson
OpenDNS has built-in filtering that allows you to block porn sites on its setting tab. (I think you have to be a registered user, though -- it's free). In fact, you can choose from several options -- and even choose to customize that setting. Other options would include paid-for software like NetNanny.com, It was editor's choice: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2360181,00.asp There other options, too. That PCMag article shows some of them.
G+_iyaz akhtar
For the router side, could be a good quicktip. I'll look into it. Thanks for the idea.

G+_David Sr
I have dd-wrt on my Linksys router and it has a "Access Restriction" section, I just enter "|nsta9ram.com" and Poof... no |nsta9ram in my house! (I can't even stand typing that word, please pardon the hate.) But it works. The kids aren't thrilled, but oh well.
