After 6 days of reboots and factory resets, I have to accept that trying to update to Android 5.0.2 has bricked my Nexus 9. I know I'm not the only one out there.

But here's the thing - in a way I'm kind of glad to be shot of it. It was the most unstable tablet I've ever owned, and while I enjoyed the larger screen that wasn't enough to overcome the instability of Android L on it. I know that a lot of the problems that I saw came from having encryption turned on, but even still it was an awful experience.

Thank god I kept my 2013 Nexus 7. Android L on that is a delight, and while it's a bit weird going back to a smaller screen it's once again going to be my main tablet. I'll see what Google announce at I/O before I decide whether to buy a new tablet over the summer.

Yes this happened to my OG Nexus 7 going from 4.2.x to 4.2.y or something like that - I had to install the factory images. It's a good skill to know. If I had known a little more about ADB at the time I might have also been able to save my data.
