G+_Darryl Gibbs
Bryan Burnett & Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ , what about doing a general guide to rooting Android devices. I guess many people in this community who want to do it probably have already, but for those new to modding their devices, they may feel a bit more secure having some expert TWiT advice? Just throwing that out there ;)
G+_Ben Reese
This would be good, but each phone is rooted a bit differently depending on who the manufacturer is and who the carrier is. When I rooted my EVO several years ago, I used a tool someone at XDA made. My S3 used ODEN, and my M8 took a key provided by HTC then flashing files via fastboot... I've never tried rooting a Motorola or an LG, but I imagine they're different still.
G+_Darryl Gibbs
fair enough... ha ha...In Brazil/South Africa we thankful gave up on (or never had) these carrier locked devices
G+_Jason Perry
iyaz akhtar did one on rooting the GS3 but you will have to dig for that. from there it is all just the concept
G+_Ben Reese
Luckily here only Verizon is known for really locking it down above and beyond the manufacturer. My Sprint M8 really was super easy - mostly because HTC gives the tools to unlock your bootloader.
G+_Darryl Gibbs
I've got a nunch of Sony Xperia's, which are doable. Not completely easy, but after copious online reading you eventually figure it out
