G+_Claude Gregoire
I have Andoer 4Pcs Simonk 30AMP 30A SimonK Firmware Brushless ESC w/ 3A 5V BEC For DJI F450 Align TREX 250 450 RC Multicopter Qudcopter Helicopter ESC. Can you tell me if I need to cut the bec power cable on three of the ESC?
G+_Eddie Foy
Yes you should. What I have done, is use an exacto knife and just pull the red lead out of connector, then heat shrink it. This way if I lose the 5V I can easily get from another (unlikely, but I feel happier)
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
That's a KK flight controller. You can leave all the BEC cables connected. It will only take power from the first channel.
G+_Eddie Foy
Not true padre, all the +5VDC input pins are connected by a trace.
G+_Claude Gregoire
Are you sure Eddie? Because if you look at the build in episode 122 Father Robert mentions that the cable needs to be cut on some flight controllers but when the build was complete it looks like the cable is connected and he was using the kk2.1.5 flight controller. That was the only thing that is freaking me out because I don't want to melt my flight controller.
G+_Eddie Foy
Yup. Flip it over. You will see a trace running along the 2 outer columns of pins. (GND & +5VDC) You won't melt anything. Thing might get funky, odd, non repeatable errors. Or may even work fine. But no need for a smoke re-installation kit.)
