I had a show idea that since  alot of you all do video editing all the time at the show. Maybe doing a show on beginners guide to video editing and what are good programs etc. and maybe play around editing one of the shows

iyaz akhtar You could probably run a whole series on video editing!  Perhaps one could be on Youtube online editing.  For loads of shortish and beginning videos it works well, and many might not know just what you can do online for free these days.

steve c Fair enough.  It's just that the YouTube video editor is something which everyone can use without expense and the same principles apply to many editing tools.  If its too simple or already well known, then fair enough.  I've used it successfully for holiday videos and the like.

I played around with it. It has effects and sorts  when u have uploaded videos lol but i just messed with it for  a bit lol so not too sure what else it does.

I've used it for reasonably simple holiday video editing.  You can drag videos onto a timeline, crop, join, transitions, effects and titles.  You can also add music from a creative commons library.  The rendering is nice - since it happens on the server its quick and allows you to edit videos on virtually any machine.  Only thing I miss is that it just has a video and sound track - not multiple video tracks.

steve c Just hover your mouse over the video in the timeline and the controls appear - rotate,effects,text,split.  Also if you click the top of the video snippet in timeline you get handles to easily trim it.

steve c When I drag a second video onto the timeline, it has the rotate,effects,text,split controls as well - so each video segment on the timeline can be edited independently.  If I wanted to clip a second off the end, I'd just split the video and delete the segment I didn't want (if that makes sense).  There is a nice tutorial at: http://goo.gl/Y734T4

steve c You can give the project/video whatever name you want.  If you select a previous project, it will allow you to remix it if you want to re-edit it.  Its saving the project as you go, so you don't need to explicitly save.  You publish when you're ready to.  I'm not saying Pixar would use it, but its not bad for something simple.
