G+_T Nohands
Hey Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ and cranky hippo We've seen the cantenna however I happen to have been left with some primestar aka pre directv as well as some older directv dishes I'm trying to setup an ambitious network over a 20 acer farm some 2000+ ft distance between buildings withe power can these dishes be modified to carry a fiber equivalent bandwith such as 10gbase or higher with fiber or cat6a or cat7 perhaps the future cat8 capabilities either wifi or microwave point to point maybe convert our 3rd or 4rth on a tower to catch cellphone LTE and boosting spoty on of 4g reception running within network for micro locations so boosting cell reception without sacrificing isp bandwith? Please it's either that or using them to start bonfires just before the sun goes down.
G+_Travis Hershberger
If you have line of site available between the buildings, you should be able to get wifi that far easily. Get an antenna mounted where the focus point of the dish is, point em at each other, all done. Also, solar power devices! G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
You can use the old sat dishes... but it's a PITA to aim.
G+_T Nohands
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ So I can recycle those Sat dishes for a cell phone booster where would I get the receiver/Transmitter needed for cell service? Also I doubt it would be that much of a PITA for me to aim, remember I'm a quad, that'll be some one else's problem. :)
G+_Travis Hershberger
I'd be looking at microwave receiver/transmitters. I know some of the guys that used to run a local ISP that were doing 40Mbit microwave across 4 "public access" towers in the area. Covered the better part of 2 counties with those 4 towers. This would have been back on 2007, so I'm sure you can get faster equipment off of ebay now.
