G+_Stephen McGann
So what's everyone's position on this development? Is this a prelude to Samsung trying to pull away from the play store? http://www.techhive.com/article/2039221/samsung-launches-800000-app-contest-for-galaxy-s4.html
G+_Kevin Spitzer (JaguarXT
I personally like Samsung products. Though I sometimes have issues with them (especially with storage space). Their products are still awesome. I feel that they are taking risks in doing this with only with their own products. What if their devices don't sell well in the future, like in 2014 or 2015. Then features like this will be just a waste land. But they also deserve financial credit for their work too. This is where I wish Google and Samsung can get along better. And this is not all Samsung's fault either. Both are at fault here. Samsung needs to learn to share the limelight. And Google needs to learn that Samsung deserves financial credit too. After all it is business. After saying that I would like to see this stuff in the Galaxy Note 3.?
G+_Ricky Cash
If I was making a product I would want the customer to have the best out of the box experience possible. I don't know that this is Samsung's motivation but it should be. They can't be crazy enough to think customers would forgo using the Play Store if they intend to remain a major player. This just looks like a good way to get developers to develop for the Samsung Marketplace. Based on the sheer number of devices they produce they appear to be advocates of consumer choice.
