G+_Karim Gillani
Things I wish I had... 1. Linux arm tablet (for battery life) with a docking station that could have extra arm processors in it to make it as fast as an i7 in desktop mode. 2. Web version of lastpass installed on my tomato based router. I would like a way to access my passwords from computers and other devices that I may not be able to instal/run the binary versions. 3. External encrypted portable wifi hard drive that wirelessly connects to my mobile devices via wifi hotspot (on my android phone). This hard drive would dock at home and sync with my main Home NAS. Really handy to play movies for my the kids iPods, nexus device, etc. Also good to access personal files and work on large files when no internet access is available or is to slow. Solutions? G+_Bram Moerman
How many lanes would you like on that bridge to Hawaii ?
G+_Karim Gillani
I figured some of these are doable except for the first one. But can you imagine the death of the laptop/pc when someone figures out how to do it :) My early ideas for solving 2 and 3 : Web based Keepass: My router is pretty high end Asus router. Install webserver like this: http://uk.nyclee.net/2012/05/07/tomatousb-shibby-and-nginx-webserver/ And looking for a non java version of this to install on it... http://sourceforge.net/projects/webkeepass/ Harddrive idea... Find something smaller but similar to this; http://m.wdc.com/en/product/280 Then hack it to add cron scripts for syncing with possibly a web ui. Some how add encryption. G+_Jason L. Gatewood
For #2, have you thought about just using lastpass? www.lastpass.com
G+_Karim Gillani
That will be plan b... I prefer to be in full control of my passwords.
G+_Jason L. Gatewood
fair enough. I prefer lastpass since it works everywhere. $1/month is worth not having to manage dropbox files, sync times, etc that you'd have to deal with on the tomato-server. Also the mobile versions are AWESOME. I thought about rolling my own version too once, but this is better for me.
G+_Jason L. Gatewood
--one more thing Check out synology.com for their NAS that have webservers built in. That also may help you. I'm planning on using one to host my personal website and web-based tools in a few months.
