G+_Karim Gillani
I have setup my router to assign different DNS based on your mac address. This is very useful for putting my kids on OpenDNS.org, putting my netflix box to usdns and my other devices to the cable dns settings. Any one interested in knowing how :)
G+_Ben Reese
Sounds handy... Which raises the question (and maybe a good one for the show) how would you go about setting up a local DNS server? If a Raspberry Pi could handle the volume of hits, it would make for a cheep local cache.
G+_Dallam Oliver-Lee
You could also install BIND on Windows or Linux that's on all the time to help speed up DNS requests for those devices that dont use OpenDNS. I never trust using the ISP's. I always run my own and it supports DNSSEC.?
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
It's worth a segment... But I almost never build my own DNS anymore. Partially because I'm lazy... And partially because the third party options have become so good.
G+_Karim Gillani
I put my easy solution here: http://www.gillani.org/home/custom-device-dns I assume it would work on dd-wrt but I haven't tested that.
