There are a lot of paper guides to upgrade and install a dual hard drive to the mac mini.. This may be a great quick show Idea I use my mac mini as a media server running Plex (It works great and easy to hide in the entertainment center), but i ran into a space issue the mac mini only came with a 700GB sata drive, So i upgraded the HDD to a 1TB sata drive and add a second 1TB sata drive.

That sounds cool! I have been wanting to that myself. We actually have Dish Networks "hopper" DVR which is just light years ahead of anything the cable companies are offering. That box also runs a 2TB drive inside. It also tucks away a sling box as well!

 

So in a previous episode of KH, it might have even been the very first one, you guys discussed building our own media servers. Drive space is always an issue, but I was going to try it with a 1st gen intel Mac mini. I think I can find a 1TB drive for it providing I don't have any firmware issues. It's currently running SL, so that's a reasonably modern OS. so hoping the OS for the media server will run on this older hardware.

 

I'd love to see how you upgraded your Mac mini. I assume its a newer model??
