G+_Eliot Sykes
Yet another show idea: Iyaz and Robert's suggestions for low maintenance hardware (e.g. phones, routers, set-top boxes) that the manufacturers have a good history of keeping up-to-date (with security patches, OS updates etc.) without you having to root the device or flash with firmware yourself to keep it current. For example, Samsung and HTC don't do a timely job of keeping their older phones updated with the latest Android releases, they would rather you purchased a new phone every year, however Google does do a good job for their Nexus devices in this respect. Another example is Netgear hasn't updated the firmware for my router in a long time, but I heard that Apple do keep their routers updated.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Thanks Eliot -- that might be a year-end roundup idea... also, would fit right in without "After you Buy" segment. :)
