G+_Daniel Casciato
Looking for an alternative to the Tiny Hardware Firewall, Leo uses. The support is poor. I asked a question of how to connect to a hotel Wifi connection which has a login page. The response given was: When you come across a non standard captive portal you must: 1. Find the MAC address of your laptop's wireless interface. 2. Assign that MAC address to your THF and turn the THF off. 3. Log in directly with your device without using the THF and click through until you are on the Internet. 4. Turn off your laptop's WiFi and turn on your THF. 5. Log onto your THF and have it associate with the captive portal. It should now be connected to the Internet proper. Ok - can perform step #1. Step #2 - no idea where to input on the dashboard page. Asked a follow up and 2 weeks of radio silence. I only use this device a few times a year and always have difficulty. Frustrated, will not be renewing after like 4 years. G+_David Peach
I don't yet know how easy it will be to do what you need with this new Kickstarter product, but I have backed it and look forward to getting mine in a couple of months. It is called ArmorVPN. armor-vpn.com - ArmorVPN: The easiest way to use a VPN Disclosure: The creator is a friend of mine. But, because of that I can send him your question and get back with you. The thing I like about this product is that you can use the VPN of your choice. Here's the Kickstarter link too: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/armorvpn/armorvpn-the-easiest-way-to-use-a-vpn-and-protect
G+_Ben Reese
If you just have one device, a Raspberry Pi Zero-W may be a decent option. The USB can connect as a generic RNDIS network device to your computer (or maybe Android phone - haven't gotten that far) and the Wi-Fi could connect to whatever hotspot you want. Since it has a UI, you could VNC into the GUI and authenticate on the captive portal then all the traffic will look like it's coming from your Pi. I started setting it up a few months ago, but then had to take a break to start packing/selling my house. The idea comes up fairly often, so there's probably good opportunity to set something up. I'd love to see a simple script like we have for Pi-hole or PiVPN!
G+_David Peach
Daniel Casciato, I got a reply from ArmorVPN about how to log into a hotel's captive portal. He said you would be able to do it from the VPN's touch screen. Then connect your devices to ArmorVPN.
