Damien Wessling Its actually a single bay version which I bought to play with. Found the problem, encrypted shares have to be remounted after a restart.

Rud Dog I am enjoying the Synology software so far, I may buy the 4 bay version with intel processor. Im finding Arm processor a bit slow.

Emma Shy Thanks for the info was wondering have you used the Synology software and compared it to the FreeNAS software?

Also need to compare the sound each generates along with power consumption.

Sleep feature would be great do they both have this feature.

Emma Shy Shortly will be coming into Mac OS X, laptop and since FreeNAS is free, will see about using it for testing FreeNas. Thanks.

I was considering using my old PC but I cant run it 24/7 due to power consumption. Better to use old pc as cold storage and use synology for my frequently used files
