G+_Chase “The Celliotth” H
I'm looking to get a sulation to live stream a church service, we have a small team 1 or two people to run the service. We would like to use some Poe cameras to steam, any ideas on what I should look into
G+_John Hillen
I am interested in this as well. I am overwhelmed by the options!
G+_Andrew Kratochvil
There are many options out there that fit many budgets. I'm actually the technical director at my church. We use three Vaddio HD-18 cameras remotely controlled by a Vaddio Production View HD. We also have a Canon XH-A1 that we can manually control from the back of the sanctuary. As far as capture and stream, we use Livestream Studio and a Blackmagic DeckLink Mini Recorder. We stream our services to Facebook Live. Here's an example of our services: https://www.facebook.com/livingwordbc
G+_Jared Twomey
We use a couple Panasonic PTZ cameras, a windows PC running OBS and a blackmagic capture card. For the server side I run a VPS running the Mist Non-commercial version. (https://mistserver.org) and I have a wordpress site that we embed the video player in. mistserver.org - MistServer - Pricing and purchase options
G+_Chase “The Celliotth” H
I'm more interested on the software side since we already have some POS security cameras that are in place and that we can pull up and watch but I would want to be able to select the correct camera and then have that stream out
G+_Jared Twomey
Do your cameras support rtmp?
G+_Ben Reese
I'm always glad to see other churches have a bigger technology budget than we do lol. My setup for Sunday mornings is a Canon HF R700 camera connected to an older Core i5 laptop. I haven't seen any HD USB capture devices that have 0 (or low) latency, so we're just streaming SD for now. Audio is more important anyhow, right? For that I'm plugged directly into the mixer to record in Audacity and get good audio to the stream. I'm kinda bullish on IP cameras because of the latency issues. SDI with PTZ would be nice if it's in the budget - just not in mine (yet). For the streaming software, VMIX does a decent job and does everything I need. I'm sure OBS is better, but VMIX seems a little easier on system resources from what I can tell. It doesn't have any problems combining the sound, video, and overlaying what's on our second display (projector). I do want to switch to OBS, but that's hard to do when you already have a working solution. Just recently I wanted to try expanding our live stream capabilities. There's a great tutorial on compiling NGINX with RTMP support and from there you can push to other RTMP servers. VMIX + FFMPEG pushes to my RTMP server (hosted on VULTR for $2.50/mo), that server pushes the stream to YouTube and Facebook, and 2 Fire TV sticks running KODI can download the stream with < 10 sec latency. All in for the live stream expenses: $150 - Used laptop $220 - Camcorder $30 - USB video capture $10 - USB audio adapter $50 - 2x Fire TV Stick ----------------------------- $460 total +$2.50/mo for hosting This setup works for us, but I'm definitely interested if someone has suggestions for inexpensive (<$500) PTZ cameras. I think our next upgrades will be a better projector then a desktop so I can use internal HD capture cards. I'm also willing to share any information if someone has questions about our setup.
