G+_Jerry Bourquin
I was wondering if anyone can solve my problem. I have a 1998 Lexus gs300 and the head lights are so close to the turn signal. I want to see if any one can wire up a module to shut off the left head light when the left turn signal is on and then after 2 seconds let power go back to that head light and the same on the right side. The new cars do this, like the Audi's. What do you guys think?
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Doable? Absolutely. Take the current Growduino lessons on relays and you're basically done. Now... do you want to mess with something that could alter the road-legality of your car? ... I'm not the one to answer that question. :)
G+_Ben Reese
If it is DRL, perhaps disabling them would be better? clublexus.com - The easiest DRL disabling w/pictures. - Club Lexus Forums Although, if you connect an Arduino and relay, you could do some cool strobe effects... G+_Jerry Bourquin
No, see how close the turn signal is to the head light. It's the dark spot. You can't see the turn Signal when the head lights are on. And it is not illegal. Because the new cars are coming out with this set up I am proposing. And I'm not talking about DTRL. https://plus.google.com/photos/...
G+_Jerry Bourquin
And the main thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is, the signal from the turn signal is on, off, on, off. I need it to work like a switchback turn signal. As soon as I turn on the turn signal I need to cut power to The head light ONLY on that side that the turn signal is on. If I just wire up a relay from the turn signal turn off the head light, it will turn off the head light ONLY while the turn signal bulb is lit. And as soon as the turn signal goes out between flashes the head light will come back on. So I need a way to stop the power to ONLY the side that the head light is on, so the other head light will always be on. Like this YouTube video. G+_Ben Reese
Jerry Bourquin I'm sure that can be done with discrete logic - maybe a capacitor to act as a buffer and keep the relay open? But an Arduino would make it a bit easier - though I think that will require a second relay or other components to make a pin HIGH without blowing up the Arduino with 12v. I guess a 3v voltage regulator might be sufficient?
