G+_Robert Pells
I am in need of help, please... I am looking for an inexpensive way to do art on a computer. I was thinking of maybe a digitizing tablet. We have several old computers here that I could thinker with. My daughter has a low to medium spec laptop. My concern is this, would a digitizing tablet be too much for that laptop? I have seen Surface pro computers being suggested, but they cost a lot of cash that we just dont have. G+_James Hughes
Monoprice makes a tablet and it should be fine with a few year old computer. If they still sell them.

G+_Tony Martin
I have this one from monoprice and love it. The drivers can be a little fickle, there was a certain sequence I had to do in the exact order to get it to work at first but after that it works flawlessly. http://www.monoprice.com/mobile/product/details/6814?maincategoryid=108&categoryid=10841&subcategoryid=1084102&cpncd= I would also highly recommend getting the nicer pen if they still have it as it is much better than the one that comes with the graphics tablet. G+_Golden Retriever
Search 2 in 1 computing these are basically tablets with fold away or detachable keyboards so the touch screen is built in. I find digitizer awkward to use because you're drawing not where you're seeing. A non active stylus will work.
G+_Golden Retriever
Pricing can be as low as $250 quite easily

G+_Tony Martin
It is not the tablet that you should be concerned about. The oldest pc will run it just fine. I used the use My tablet on my old q6600 pc with 4gb of ram and it was fine. The issues come in with the system requirements of the software you want to use to draw in. G+_Golden Retriever
True you may want to know the software first to know what hardware to get. I still think art is easier if you draw on the surface your looking at doing otherwise is like driving a car from the passenger seat
G+_Robert Pells
Yes, that is a great point. Although, I initially wanted to keep the cost down this will not happen. I have an idea that we might be better off saving up for a Wacom Cintig.
