G+_L I
wrt Android Pay, does anyone know how long the old app will continue to work? Not that I used it all that often because of the number of failures I've had the last few times I've tried, but I think I will pass on Android Pay until I get a phone with a finger print reader. Having to enter a pin/password everytime I unlock my phone rather than just when I'm going to use Wallet will be a bridge I don't want to cross - at least until I get an easier way to unlock the phone. For the life of me I still don't understand why Google felt the need to completely change the way Wallet worked instead of layering in the support for tokens and fingerprints. And this is the second time they've gutted Wallet. The first time was when they completely dropped the secure element support (even on Nexus devices) for Host Card Emulation which requires an internet connection and slows down the process. This is one area where I completely concede that Apple did it right. C'mon, Google.
G+_Chris Topher
Look for Google Wallet in the Play Store there's a new version. So now there's two apps on my phone this a Google Wallet but they have slightly different icons. But one is actually Android pay

G+_Kyle Turpin
I'm not having to put in a pin at every unlock. I'm not sure that's how it's meant to work.
G+_Chris Topher
Lionel D then uninstall your current Google Wallet app and install the new one and you won't be upgrading you just keep what you had before but with a new icon with a little more square and less bubbly
G+_Paul Werner
Just use Smart Lock so you don't have to put in the pin/password at every unlock
G+_L I
Paul Werner that would mean I need to have a Bluetooth device with me always?
G+_Paul Werner
No, there are more than just Bluetooth unlock for Smart Lock
G+_Joseph Cappellino
But, as we've discussed in another thread, you have a strange order of steps to get Apple Pay to work. 1. Open app 2. Tap phone 3. Enter pin/passcode 4. Tap again 5. Profit? The unlocking the device should be on app load, not post tap.
G+_L I
Joseph Cappellino are you sure about that? Every video I've seen of Apple Pay in action has been initiated with phone off, tapping on the terminal then requests the fingerprint and that's it. Take this CNET video: This was my experience with the old Google Wallet as well. Tap wakes it up, put in pin, transaction goes through (as long as everything works and the time between tap and token send isn't too long). G+_Joseph Cappellino
Lionel D maybe I just didn't wait long enough. Also, this was on a soda machine, so who knows.
