G+_Jaime Botero
Here's an open source project from some work I was doing as a maker inspired by the awesome shows of Know How. G+_Steve C
Interesting but I wouldn't use the Pixhawk FC. I have 2 of them that won't work with either QGC or Mission Planner. The first one died after trying to get different versions of QGC to run for about a year and I think it just died from handling it so much. I contacted the crooks at 3DR to see if I could get it fixed and they said: "No, buy a new one"! The second one gets most of the way through setup but can't read battery voltage and never gets far enough to actually try and arm it. In Mission Planner the sensor calibration usually fails with a compass error or gyro health alarm. They had a big update to that section but it still doesn't work right and usually ends up saying it's pointing South when it's actually North and tends to tilt about 20 degrees! G+_Jaime Botero
In fact, I have been using the HobbyKing PHKPilot32, which supports Mission Planner pretty well and it's half the cost of the 3DR Pixhawk. I have had a good experience with this flight controller so far.
G+_Jaime Botero
Wayne Hobbins Thanks Wayne. You are right, I few the quad this past weekend and got pretty bad vibrations on the camera. I've tried a few other things, but none worked. I think it was caused by the propellers so close to the gimbal. I went through a new iteration and came up with a non-gimbal version (now posted in my Thingiverse page). I still haven't flew it, but this reduced the overall weight by about 400g due to the Gimal motors and electronics. I'll post an update after I get some new props, since I broke one of the last carbon fiber ones I had. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1365106
G+_Jaime Botero
Carson Black I've been using Tinkercad, it's pretty easy and does the job. Please feel free to contribute with any new design ideas. All STL files are at https://github.com/ljbotero/OpenDrone
