G+_Eric Kolesnikovas
Purchased a Refurbished Windows 7 Pro Machine, First thing I am trying to do is update it by running windows update and it just sits there at checking for updates...... I have tried the automated fixit and troubleshooters and they haven't done anything to fix it. I have also tried just updating to windows 10 and that hangs at searching for updates. The OS is verrified
G+_Eddie Foy
Update the updater first. Then try the WIn Update

G+_Brian Moses
1) Open command prompt as admin and type "NET STOP WUAUSERV". This will stop the spazzing Windows Update Service. 2) Follow up with typing "WUAUCLT /DETECTNOW". This will detect, download, and process all necessary updates behind the scenes. wuauclt.exe /detectnow /updatenow

G+_610GARAGE
I've installed many windows 7 os' and it will take a day, or more for the first group of updates to show. Really irritating. But it will speed up. I think it may have to do with system restore, but I never looked to deeply into it.
G+_Eric Kolesnikovas
Yeah it just takes a long time... Like 3 hours later we have 71 updates.. Wow this makes setting up new PC's quick lol
G+_Travis Hershberger
Yeah, Windows 7 update process just does not work well anymore. It seems to me that Microsoft is being passive aggressive with the process, they'd rather you just upgrade to Windows 10.
