G+_Dan Lott
Can anyone identify the Fluke Networks tester Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ has in KH 129? I can't quite make out what is written on it, even in 720p.
G+_Jason Perry
Better question. Does anyone know of a good tester that I dont have to sell my kidney to afford.
G+_Jason Perry
This link might help http://www.ebay.com/bhp/fluke-cable-tester For some reason I think it was the NetTool but it could also be the LinkRunner.
G+_Ben Reese
Jason Perry? what are you looking for in a tester? I'm using a real cheap one that just checks continuity on each wire (about like this one: Network Cable Tester https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00118038Y/), but more expensive devices will do a lot more. When I did cabling full-time, my regular tester had 4 remote nodes so I could test several a few separate cables without having to run back and forth from the server closet. G+_Jason Perry
Ben Reese I have one that is very similar. I would like one that can tell me which end I messed up on or if the cable is broke somewhere in the middle. Other diagnostic tools would be nice, but not necessary, so I wouldnt have to flip between that and a computer I have on weels I currently use to help counteract the general effects of users on on a network. I volunteer for a not for profit that relies on creative ways to make things work so despite my best efforts I find routers inproperly wired into the network creating conflicts ALL THE TIME. G+_Dan Lott
Ben Reese I'm looking for top notch tools, with an eye toward cable certification. The kind of stuff Fluke gear is known for. Jason Perry I can confirm that it is not the LinkRunner (at least the Rev 1 that I have). The LinkRunner can in fact tell you where the problem is as it includes a TDR. Although there are limits to it's effectiveness, I have found that if the TDR refuses to probe out the cable, the cable is FUBAR & should be replaced.
