G+_Gilbert Knarr
I'm glad you are doing a quadcopter series. I am planning on building one. I really like the idea of buying an inexpensive one to learn to fly on. I will probably buy the one you showed on the episode and I have a question about it. Could I use the controller for the one that I build? I really love the show. Thanks for doing such a great job!
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Thank you for your kind words. Bryan Burnett & I love doing the show, and we couldn't do it without people like you. :) Unfortunately you can NOT use the controller in the Syma X5c or the SWANN QuadForce for any other quad. It's a single-board receiver/flight controller/esc which just will not work in anything else. If you look at the parts list in the previous episode, you can get a fantastically featured FlySky for about $60. ... And ABSOLUTELY train on an inexpensive quad. The more your crash, the more you learn... learning on a quad that is almost indestructible and that isn't heavy enough to cause any real damage to things (or people) around you is a big advantage. G+_Gilbert Knarr
Thank you for the very quick reply. I was thinking more about the transmitter. I know you didn't like the trim controls but that could be more of a receiver problem.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Yes... the transmitter only works with the single-board receiver/controller/esc in the quad.
