G+_Gilbert Knarr
I'm finally going to buy a Syma X5???. I know to get the C-1 instead of the C. Has anyone bought the X5SW? Also I'm going to buy extra batteries, is there a battery company I should or shouldn't get? Thanks for your input.
G+_Carlton Dodd
I have the X5SC-1. The "S" model seems to have bigger motors. I know this because my dad needed a replacement, and the X5C motors we bought were significantly skinnier.
G+_Jeff Brand
The X5C-1 only differs by packaging. It's more compact and preferred by online retailers. The video/photo button was re-positioned at some point, as well, though I don't know if that also applied to later revs of the X5C. Unless they've fixed the design/camera freq, stay away from the X5SW. The Wifi camera interferes with the transmitter and severely limits range. If you change your mind, I believe the FPV camera is available fro $50 and mounts to the X5C series. I plan to invest in a light FPV setup that I can re-use elsewhere. For batteries, make sure the connectors are correct. Beyond that, understand that you get what you pay for. Any 600mah battery will work well enough, though perhaps not to stated capacity. It's super convenient to have multiples on hand and totally worth the <$20 purchase. Last spring, I purchased a 4-pack from BangGood but one of the batteries arrived DOA. From the looks of it, it had "exploded" in the warehouse since there were no signs of ignition on the packaging. Customer support pro-rated a refund, no questions asked and the others are still running fine.
G+_zyga zyga
I have the x5sw. stripped down without the prop guards, no camera and no wild stunts, no wind, at noon with help of the suns gravity I can get 10ish mins of flight. Camera costs 1 min. light wind cost 1-2min. tricks and flips 2min. Prop guards 2min. So fully loaded having fun 5-6min of flight time. Definitely worth getting extra batteries i was looking at getting cheapie 6 (680mah) with a charging hub. Range is good enough I don't fly it more than 100' away. The camera is not so great you can look on YouTube to see the quality. Not really set up for raceing, the camera looks down at like 15 degrees. So it is more of an aerial photography setup. The WiFi cam has a .5ish sec lag. Software won't work with my note4 but will with my tablet so I save the vids and pics on it. Fun to have live aerial cam. G+_Jeff Brand
Wayne Hobbins, some reviews say otherwise but you might be right. The X5C I owned lasted one flight as a friend flew it directly into a very tall tree. It was so hard to control, that may be the reason. :) Eventual recovery from the tree is the goal of my next quad build... :D
G+_Jeff Brand
Essentially! Initially, servo-based release of a hook and then manual pull. Drone-assisted pull is a last resort.
G+_Jeff Brand
This video is my inspiration. That, plus losing a quad in a tree.
G+_Gilbert Knarr
Well I just ordered the Cheering X5SW (it's supposed to have the upgraded 2.0 camera) and extra batteries from amazon. And they should be here Monday. But my last Prime order actually showed up on Sunday (keeping my fingers crossed).
G+_Gilbert Knarr
It finally arrived. And Syma NEEDS a better interpreter for the manual. It's already dark so the testing will have to be done indoors when the batteries get charged.
