A modem/router question: Padre, with your networking knowledge I hope you can help. I previously bought an ASUS Rt-AC5300 router. I just changed ISP (Atl. BB) and they supply an Arris TG862 modem/router. I also lease two Airtie mesh devices. I would prefer a separate cable modem and reconnect my Asus (spider) router - as Leo refers to his. Any Rxs for a Cable Modem best for the Asus router? Second, I would like a couple mesh extenders to get to places on my 1 2/3 acre property. Any suggestions on hardware I can build around my Asus AC5300 that maximizes coverage both IUI inside and outside my house. (I'm fine with returning the rental Arris M/R and Airties to stop paying monthly rental on them).

Summary: Advice for a Cable Modem DOCSIS 3.0 With at least 24/8 and M we sh device(s) I can pair with my Asus router. Thank you (and as Leonard Cohen often said: "May all the blessings be yours".)

Nobody else is replying, so I'll share my opinion ?

Any DOCSIS 3.0 (or 3.1) modem should probably work, but it's usually best to choose one from their list: https://atlanticbb.com/sites/default/files/tiny_mce/files/Approved_modems_5_Sept_2017.pdf

Limiting to only the 24x8 or better modems gives about 6 to pick from.

Arris stands out as probably being the best brand there - at least, that's what it seems all the ISPs give out. I believe they were recently named in big vulnerability, but that was at the fault of poor configuration by the ISP. Most recently, Spectrum brought me a TM1602 (not on that list).

I haven't had more than probably 4 or 5 cable modems over the last 10 years and most of them have been Arris. This is the 3rd I've used in the last month... Moved to a new house and brought the Arris gateway (Time Warner provided) with me. It had connectivity issues here, so I hooked up my backup Cisco modem - which also had issues. Spectrum/TWC came out and fixed the issue (bad coax) and us a new, free Arris modem. I still get one or two reboots each day, but not as bad as it was before.
