My one day review of Aviate

I have used a lot of launchers in my time on Android even one that cost $15 (well I actually just used it for exactly 14 minutes and 59 seconds) and today we had the high profile beta release of Aviate (by the way I hate the name) . And I must say I am loving it.

Leo Laporte  mentioned wanting a launcher from Google as a response to Facebook Home, a Google plus launcher. Now while this isn't it there are certain aspects of this launcher that I would love to see in stock android. You can tell that the developers are former googlers as it feels like something Matias Duarte  would approve. On my commute home it was great to see the "going somewhere" space that had Waze, Maps and Ingress (hey I play on my way home) front and center. Even when I was walking around the city today I would see the name of places come up with the launcher urging me to visit or check in to the place on foursquare.  And I understand it gets better.

A few gripes though I am a bit worried about its hit on battery life, widget management is still a little iffy and the settings are too minimalistic, try as I might I can't find how to edit my home address (help please) But with all of that I think its a fantastic start. I expect

Jason Howell and the crew to talk about it tonight and there are a few invites floating around in this community that you can get one.
