G+_Timothy Hamlett
Yeah right.... That's a good way to not get random teens on your Wi-Fi!

G+_Joshua Hamlett
It doesn't really matter what you call it. Just use a good encryption level (WPA2) and a good key (i.e., not your public phone number), and no one will be using it anyway.
G+_Dallam Oliver-Lee
Get rid of that xfinitywifi cable modem and it will reduce ur wifi noise. (Buy your own cable modem)
G+_Eddie Foy
FBI (and such) wouldn't advertise. Anyone with a "getyourown" I tend to go after. Especially if they use WPS.
G+_Midwest Concert Video
Pretty much everywhere I go and scan WiFi, there is always someone with "FBI Surveillance Van #whatever" around. It's an old joke, and seriously not that clever anymore folks.
G+_Jason Perry
http://www.buzzfeed.com/jessicaprobus/no-more-free-wifi#.nmdLr998p How about some of these? PS NSFW
G+_Wayne White
Midwest Concert Video That's interesting. So, if I were the actual FBI agent, in a van monitoring someone and the wifi in the van was named as such, no one would pay any attention to us because everyone thinks it's a joke. That's Clever! G+_Eddie Foy
why would an FBI van have an AP? Use one sure. (they have better toys then us)
G+_Midwest Concert Video
If I were setting up a surveillance van, at the very least I'd turn off SSID broadcasting, only use the 5 gigahertz band, and use a very long and random WPA2 key. But the truth is that the people I know who communicate with the FBI don't use even basic encrypted email. Kind of sad, really.
G+_Midwest Concert Video
Eddie Foy Frankly, they don't. There was a huge scandal last year about a project to update the FBI's IT infrastructure that had failed, costing millions and leaving them several generations behind not just criminals but the general public. The bidding process for government contracts is so Byzantine that the best and brightest companies rarely even try, leaving the field to a handful of dinosaurs who know how to play the game. Worse yet, they know how to negotiate a contract in such a way that they're never really on the hook when they fail, ensuring that they have little incentive to succeed. G+_Wayne White
It's a joke, people! Actually, the FBI can be a joke at times. But, if you do see something like FBISV#22 suddenly pop up on your wifi list and you look out your window and see a plain grey or black van with the windows blacked out, turn off all the power in your house, pull the battery out of your phone, stick it in the frig and RUN! Again it's a joke, put away your "serious" beanie cap for a few minutes each day. Of course, now you know that they (the FBI) are monitoring this "discussion" now that their computers have flagged the key words in the comments. Words like, "encrypted", "surveillance", "joke" and "naked pics". Wait, what?
G+_Timothy Hamlett
What I have observed ( I did a blind test with some of my friends using the ssid of US Secret Service car # ** ) is that they won't want to join any network and will completely freak out that they are being watched. Just the remote possibility that it might be "the cops" scares them that their phone or laptop might be hacked. As for the FBI, they probably are also noticing that quite a few people reading this have "illegally" hacked Wi-Fi in the past, and they are the people who would know better than to think that it is the actual FBI. G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
My ssid is "donttrymebro". Like the the "don't taze me bro" guy in the YouTube videos. I've seen fbi van once a few years ago in my old apartment. Threw me off for a second. Weird thing was there was a white unmarked utility van a parked outside a few times when I saw that name.
