G+_Jeth Rigoroso
Fr. Robert Ballecer said in a past episode, he likes enterprise equipment at home. Here's my acknowledgement of the networking episode with my home 10 gigabit ethernet setup. The router isn't exactly enterprise grade, but it was really expensive :(
G+_David Wiggins
Hehe, nice. I have a few old Dell servers salvaged under my bed. I have fairly cheap power, but haven't had time to set them up.

G+_Jon Paul Bubendorfer
David Wiggins i tried that, not worth the noise, heat and energy consumption. Amazing loud in residential environment.
G+_Stede Bonnett
I use the 8 port version of that switch as well, with two of the ports LAG to a 24port gigabit to connect 'slow' stuff like printers and wifi and also to my workbench which has a 16 port with various static VLANs so I can work on stuff without it being on my LAN. I have Intel X520 and X540 dual-port NIC's which I picked up used in the $120 range.
G+_David Wiggins
My tech closet is fairly well isolated and ventilated, so heat/noise isn't a problem. Power's cheap here, bit I do still want to compare the consumption to the various PCs doing server tasks that I have now. I imagine you're right, Jon Paul Bubendorfer? I'd probably be better off with a newer, more energy efficient system, but I'll likely try it short term at least with what I have. . . Assuming I ever get then moved from 'sleep' storage, hehe.
