Chris Lacy   is the definition of a superstar developer. Continuous iteration and deep thinking of ways to make Android better. Love the shoutout to fellow Aussie devs Shifty Jelly   in the video

Action Launcher 3.5 is OUT NOW!

The headline feature of this release is the Quickbar, which allows for comprehensive customization of the search box widget so many of us have atop our home screens.

Of course Action Launcher 3 is already a leader here with the Quicktheme, which allows you to theme the search box with the colors of your wallpaper. But with the Quickbar, you can take this customization even further by adding apps, shortcuts and menus to the search box.

Want to add a quick toggle between a locked and unlocked desktop? How about a custom menu group with a phone icon containing direct dial shortcuts to your most popular contacts? Or maybe you just want to put all your audio apps at the top of your layout? The Quickbar allows you to do all of this and more.

I'm very happy with how the Quickbar has turned out. It may not look like it, but this feature was an absolutely mammoth design and engineering undertaking. Thankfully the end result is something that I feel sits very comfortably alongside Quicktheme, Quickdrawer, Quickpage, Covers and Shutters as unique and compelling features that (hopefully!) combine to make Action Launcher a better launcher. That's the goal anyway.
