G+_Tracy Reiter
Hello all. I have a question for you all. I am a long haul truck driver. I am looking for a good way to get over the air broadcasts when I am parked for the night. I have tried Flat panel antennas in the truck, they can be quite limiting. Any suggestions?
This article discusses your situation: https://www.reviews.org/tv-service/how-to-get-tv-on-the-road/ The solution seems to be: Mobile apps for road warriors but it'll cost you some $$
G+_Rob Saw
You can get adjustable antenna or satellite dish kits with signal meters relatively cheaply ) designed for camping etc) bit you would need to set up and adjust every night... Line of sight issues etc....
G+_Robert Hafer
Height makes a difference with TV antennas. Maybe a temporary mount on the top of your rig would help.
G+_J Miller
If you get free wifi at these truckstops, maybe IP tv is an option? If so, try youtube TV.
G+_Black Merc
J Miller obviously you have never tried that idea... Most truck stops could not afford the bandwidth(distance from isp, phone or cable co.). Another problem, trying wifi in a parking lot with all that truck steel (oh, God, the signal strength, LOS, multipath... Forget it!) Robert Hafer and Rob Saw have it right, more altitude is an OTA positive with the problem of setting up a makeshift 'tower' to attain better signal. G+_J Miller
Ive used wifi at campgrounds and was able to stream movies from my home from inside metal trailers. Dont see why that would be different. Aentennas also but they are a pain to get alligned. Oh well, i tried.
