G+_Michael Renyard
Hello knowledge hole team! I am looking for some good advice I am NOT an avid gamer but my favorite game is X Plane I have version 10 although it seems to work fairly well on my machine which is an i5 with 32 gigs of ram and a four year old SSD I have been trying to figure out what kind of machine to build that would allow me to play X Plane with all the settings the two extreme yet every machine that I have built seems to run smoothly until I try to max out the settings in X Plane 10 any help would be greatly appreciated thank you
G+_Jason Marsh
Usually the choke point for video is the graphics card, so I'd start there. What graphics card are you currently using? What resolution are you running?

G+_Jason Marsh
Ok, so I looked at X Plane's system requirements and it leans heavily on CPU (single-thread) performance. One would think a Core i5 would be adequate, especially considering that their partner site markets a budget PC with Pentium 3240 and 750Ti. Then again, that's certainly spec'd based on typical use, which wouldn't be at max settings. So, when you're running X Plane what does your CPU load look like? Disk getting hit heavily? Have you tried overclocking the CPU? Turning off Virtual Memory? Resource Monitor can show you what's breathing the hardest so you know where to focus your efforts, and that's where I start when I have a system that seems to have slowed.
